Ann Rose and Susan Hill have something to say. Every morning for the past several years, they've chatted on the phone and ranted about the events of the day. Now, instead of ranting to each other, they will air their opinions on the internet with Hot Flash Report which will focus on abortion, reproductive rights, birth control and right-wing sexual hypocrisy. Along with a hand-picked group of 'Flasher' columnists, they will dissect the latest spin on the news and give you a piece of their mind. Ann and Susan are both long time liberal Democrats
and abortion rights activists with national credentials.

To the anti-abortion movement, standing outside clinic doors and bellowing at patients and staff that they are murderers and whores is simply an effort to "stop the war against America's children."
Like most wars, this one has included a host of tactics, from picket lines to blockades, and has gone so far as to include arson, property damage, kidnapping and the murder of providers. The antis call it collateral damage, the end product of a campaign that has for 36 years worked doggedly to undo Roe v. Wade. From state houses to Congress, from clinics to providers' homes, their relentless hammering has had marked victories.

An abortion ban is likely to be on the South Dakota ballot in November. Opponents of abortion in the "Yes for Life" campaign announced that they have filed enough signatures to get an abortion ban with exceedingly limited exceptions for protection of a woman's health or for rape and incest victims on the 2008 ballot.

A report from Idaho indicates that U.S. Senate candidate Marvin Richardson legally changed his name to Marvin Pro-Life Richardson.
This seemed weird at first glance, but wait, why not get all anti-abortion legislators to change their names! And then mandate that all anti-abortion legislation change names to add "anti-abortion," or heck, even "pro-life." Now that would be informed consent!

In a move worthy of Jerry Falwell who blamed 9/11 on "the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians", crazed anti-abortion pastor Matt Trewhella of Missionaries to the Preborn sent the following E-Mail out today to his flock:
Subject: The Righteous Judgment of God
Date: Wed, 24 Oct 2007 03:00:18 +0000
Dear Friends,
Last week I groaned when I read how Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill into law in California which foisted homosexuality upon the children of that state through the state school system. The bill was SB777 and it clearly redefines (perverts) what sexuality is, as well as promotes the legitmacy of homosexuality upon children starting from kindergarten on up. He signed the bill on Saturday, October 13th.
Seven days later on October 20th, wildfires broke out across California in several places.
More of this crap below the fold.

Republican federal prosecutor Roy Atchison in northern Florida arrested for soliciting sex with a 5-year-old girl. Disgusting and beyond depraved.
Anti-abortionist wingnuts threaten to disrupt the Democratic National Convention in 2008.
Replying to a concern from an underinsured constituent who works for the school system, GA. Rep. John Linder callously exclaimed: ""She wants YOU to pay for her operation!". Then, he moved to the more important issue of denying global warming. Asshole.
This article describes some of the hypocritical divorce secrets that are being revealed about Richard Mellon Scaife. He is the billionaire who funded many of the attacks in the 1990s on Bill Clinton. Scaife also funded other right wing causes. He is now undergoing a messy divorce, and the article talks about his cheating on his wife, his taxes and his finances.
Oh My! Yet another Republican sex scandal.
40 Days for Life anti-abortion campaign set to instigate harassment at abortion clinics throughout the country.
Republican Presidential Candidate Brownback would require sonograms before abortions. Pssssst...hey idiot, about 99% of clinics and abortion doctors do this already. Go to Abortion Clinics OnLine and read some of the clinic websites.

9/11, Terrorism And Militant Religious Fundamentalism

As a Gynecologist who openly provides abortion care for my patients, I have dealt with and closely observed militant Christian fundamentalists since 1983. In 1985 my office was firebombed by a 14-year-old boy whose actions were instigated by fundamentalist propaganda that he was exposed to in his church. Between 1985 and 1989 I received so many death threats that I lost count, and my office was invaded, blockaded and vandalized literally scores of times. At least two of the death threats I and our local law enforcement authorities took very seriously.

9/11/07 - Convicted Terrorist Released from Federal Prison

Cross-posted at DailyKos and Talk to Action.
Convicted anti-abortion terrorists Don Benny Anderson, and brothers Matthew Moore and Wayne Moore, were supposed to be released from jail and into a halfway house yesterday, September 11, 2007. It has been confirmed that he was released as scheduled.
Don Benny Anderson was convicted in 1982 of kidnapping the owner of an abortion clinic and his wife in Illinois. The doctor was forced at gunpoint to make an audio recording urging then President Reagan to oppose abortion, even though Reagan already did. After 8 days in fearful captivity, the couple were released unharmed, but have remained relatively low profile since then. Anderson was scheduled to be released yesterday from Federal Prison into a halfway house near the clinic after spending 24 of his 30 year sentence in jail. The infamous Army of God claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.
While the media is obsessed with foreign terrorists and the Petreaus report and the fear of Iraq, Iran, AlQuida, Osama Bin Laden, and other boogey-men, these three bonafide convicted terrorists will be walking the streets. But wait, these dudes are "White Christians", so never mind. The chilling details of their crimes are below the fold.

The Right Wing's 20-Year Plan

First published Thursday, November 04, 2004 after the re-election of George W. Bush.
Military wars are not fought between the Generals. They're fought on the ground. The Christian Right Wing initiated a battle plan over 20 years ago to attain the victory that occurred on Tuesday. This war bubbled up from the small towns of America to Washington and vice-versa.
The surprise of a second term for George W. Bush that many liberals and the elite media are expressing today is disingenuous because they were warned 20 years ago.
20 years ago, the social issue battle was being fought in front of abortion clinics in every city in this country. From 1984 to the present, the battle front was sidewalks in front of abortion clinics. These were the first skirmishes., The Catholic Church and Evangelical movement had decided to draft their soldiers for this cultural war locally and to train them on the abortion issue.
